Serving as an ideal supplement to the system's multi-touch capabilities, the MCU002 provides tactile hardware key operation for quick access to essential functions, ensuring reliable control even in rough seas or when the main display is out of reach—such as in recessed or elevated installations. It does not replace touchscreen interaction but seamlessly complements it, allowing for hands-free or one-handed operation without compromising precision.

At its core, the MCU002 features an intuitive 8-way clickable joystick for cursor movement, screen scrolling, and contextual menu access (e.g., pushing the joystick on the plotter screen summons a quick menu), paired with 10 dedicated, logically arranged hardware keys for streamlined navigation. This design delivers complete control over all TZtouch features, including chart plotting (panning, zooming, route creation), radar overlay and range adjustments, fish finder settings, RotoKey menu navigation, custom page displays, and even integrated NavPilot 700-series autopilot commands like course changes and mode selection when networked. The innovative Auto-Scroll function further simplifies operation by enabling instant panning when the cursor is positioned at the screen's edge.

Built for marine durability, the MCU002 measures just 2.3" wide by 4.5" high with a slim 0.75" mounting depth, supporting flexible flush-mount installation from the front panel using included gaskets and screws. It connects via a standard USB 2.0 interface with a 2-meter cable (extendable up to 30 meters using optional USB 2.0 extension cables for longer runs), drawing power directly from the host display—no external PSU needed. Waterproofing meets IP56 standards on the front (suitable for exposed helm use) and IP22 on the rear, making it ideal for wet environments.
